They donated over donated 300 dozen Heirloom Ameraucana Blue eggs to us.
We used the eggs to prepare frittatas, egg salad and bread pudding for our clients.
It's growing season and that means Community Servings has been receiving tons of local produce donated from generous Boston area businesses. Because our knowledgeable kitchen staff can seamlessly incorporate almost any donated ingredient into our menus, we're able to prepare fresh, delicious meals keeping food costs at $5 a day.
In the last year alone, 25% of our produce came from the 27,650 pounds of fruits, vegetables and dairy products given to Community Servings - all of these donations are worth over $55,000! Through a partnership with local farmers and purveyors, we receive fresh food that remains unsold or left in the fields. We're able to put it to good use creating medically and culturally appropriate meals for our clients who are too ill to shop and cook for themselves. Everything finds a place in our kitchen - whether it be beautiful produce, delicious bread, milk, coffee, eggs, yogurt or ice cream.

Farmer Dave's - Farmer Dave's was opened in 2006 and is located in Dracut, Massachusetts. The farm is committed to working closely with those trying to preserve farmland for future agriculture. They offer CSAs, have Farm Stands, are at Farmers' Markets and participate in Share-a-Shares.
The Food Project - Since 1991, The Food Project has built a national model of engaging young people in personal and social change through sustainable agriculture. Each year, they work with over a hundred teens and thousands of volunteers to farm on 40 acres in eastern Massachusetts in the towns and cities of Beverly, Boston, Lincoln and Lynn. Food from their farms is distributed through their Community Supported Agriculture programs, Farmers' Markets, and to hunger relief organizations.
Land's Sake Farm - Land's Sake combines ecologically-sound land management practices with hands-on environmental education to model how public open space can be used and enjoyed by the community.
When Pig's Fly Bakery - At When Pigs Fly, they bake old-world, artisan breads fresh, every day, using the finest organic, natural ingredients.
MooMilk - Maine's Own Organic Milk Company produces high quality organic milk. They are dedicated to keeping organic family farms across Maine in business. The farms that produce their milk share ownership in the company, and 90 percent of their profits are returned directly to those farms.
Pete & Gerry's Eggs - Pete and Gerry's is a real family farm. They've produced high-quality eggs for four generations in the heart of New Hampshire's White Mountains. They're committed to producing fresh, organic, cage-free, Omega-3 eggs from hens that are Certified Humane. This commitment remains unchanged as they add other family farms to their farm family.
Equal Exchange - Equal Exchange has created Big Change since 1986. Their founders envisioned a food system that empowers farmers and consumers, supports small farmer co-ops, and uses sustainable farming methods. They started with fairly traded coffee from Nicaragua and didn't look back. Today, they continue to find new and powerful ways to build a better food system. They partner with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organic coffees, teas, chocolates, bananas, olive oil, and almonds.
Batch Ice Cream - They make ice cream fully from scratch using real ingredients, many of which are sourced locally and Fair Trade.
Chobani Yogurt - Chobani was founded on the belief that people have great taste. They just need great options. That’s why Chobani was started back in 2005 — to make high-quality, great tasting yogurt made with only natural ingredients available to the masses.
