Executive Chef

Massachusetts' free, home-delivered meals program for the critically ill seeks an Executive Chef. Community Servings is a non-profit food and nutrition program focused on the nutritional needs of underserved populations across the state. Over the past 21 years, we have delivered over 4.4 million free meals to the critically ill in the context of medical nutrition therapy, while leveraging our kitchen operation to address other food justice issues in an entrepreneurial spirit. Winner of multiple awards for business innovation, including Charity Navigator's 4-star rating, we are growing and expanding to play an important role on many food justice fronts.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the senior management team, the Executive Chef is responsible for the full operation of our Kitchen with a staff of eleven (11) union staff working two shifts and utilizing 20 - 50 volunteers per day. The Kitchen produces over 2000 meals per day, including 25 different medically-tailored diets for our critically ill clients and hot meals for our social enterprise program, feeding local schools and non-profits. It also serves as a training ground for our food service job training program, and partners with local farmers to access local, surplus produce for our menus. This position is an ideal opportunity for an experienced professional chef who is eager to play a crucial role in helping Community Servings achieve its food justice mission.

Service Learning and Internships

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. In addition to working in the kitchen, doing deliveries and helping out on special events, we have several opportunities for colleges students to fulfill service learning course requirements or intern with us. Past and current projects have included helping to develop, distribute and tabulate the results of client surveys and doing outreach to hospitals and clinics regarding our expanded mission.
